Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoghaire
Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoire (1975), portrays a group of boisterous Irish-speaking actors, who rebel against their English-speaking director, during rehearsals for an adaptation of Eibhlín Dubh Ní Chonaill’s 18th-century lament for her murdered husband. Bob Quinn’s postmodern take on the famous love poem is considered the first independently produced film in the Irish language and this special screening by Club Scannán Sailearna takes place in Seanscoil Sailearna, Indreabhán, the location where the film was shot 50 years ago.
Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoire will be shown at 8pm on Thursday 10 July.
